Welcome to Immanuel Baptist Church

It is a true joy to be the pastor of a vibrant and exciting church family. God has truly blessed us in so many ways. Reaching those who haven’t been reached with the Gospel yet is one of our goals. Once reached, our goal is to disciple them to follow God’s plan for their lives.Immanuel Baptist Church is committed to ministry and service. Our ministries include those from the baby in the cradle, to the senior citizens, who are a vital part of our membership. Children, youth and young adults are also the focus of our ministries. There is a place for everyone. Bible study, music, youth ministries and educational ministries are only a few of the many opportunities to find an avenue of service at Immanuel Baptist Church. This web site is more than just a collection of pictures and information. It is a living witness to the transforming grace of Jesus Christ that has preserved the church and once again calls the church to tell the timeless story of our Lord and Savior.

In His service,

Pastor Dave Libengood

IMMANUEL BAPTIST CHURCH HISTORY

Immanuel Baptist Church was established as a mission of Indian River Baptist Church on April 1, 1962. Services were held at B. M. Williams Primary school and Rev. Charles D. Anders was called in June, 1962 as Mission Pastor.

Construction began on the first building unit (now our Worship Center) in 1963. Dedication services were held on December 8, 1963. Having 135 charter members, Immanuel Baptist Church was organized and constituted on October 18, 1964.

The parsonage at 105 Red Oak Trail was purchased in December 1974.

Groundbreaking ceremonies for an Education Building were held August 8, 1976. Dedication services for the first floor of the new unit took place on November 13, 1977. The second floor was completed and dedicated on November 20, 1983.

Rev. David L. Libengood was called as Pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in May 1991.

Sunday, November 24, 1991 Immanuel Baptist Church celebrated the burning of the Mortgage notes for the parsonage and education building along with the renovation of the sanctuary.

On April 30, 1995, groundbreaking ceremonies were conducted for an addition and renovation to the Worship Center. Immanuel Baptist celebrated God’s grace on August 4, 1996 when a dedication service for our newly renovated Worship Center was held.

Immanuel Baptist Church called Tracy Gregory as full time Minister of Music and Youth in October 1999.

In September 2010, Immanuel Christian Learning Center opened it’s doors and in just three months, our school grew to having 85 students enrolled.  We are truly blessed to have Julia Kennedy as the director of our school along with a wonderful staff whose hearts are in teaching the children the biblical values in and outside the classroom.

We give thanks to dedicated Christians for all their leadership and faithfulness, but above all, we give thanks and praise to God for His mercy and grace. Our prayers are that we may continue to serve God and give Him first place in our lives.
